StatementIQ is operated by MoneyMap, a South African sole proprietor (CIPC registration pending). If you have questions, contact us at help@moneymap.co.za.
StatementIQ is an automated financial information tool. It reads your bank statement and provides descriptive commentary, spending categorisation, and humorous observations about your financial patterns.
- A financial advisor or financial planning service
- A credit provider or debt counsellor
- A registered Financial Services Provider (FSP) under the FAIS Act 37 of 2002
- A substitute for professional financial advice
- Affiliated with your bank in any way
Nothing in any StatementIQ report constitutes "financial advice" as defined in the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act 37 of 2002 (FAIS). We describe your data. We do not advise you on what to do with your money.
If you need financial advice, please consult a registered financial advisor. Verify any FSP's registration at www.fsca.co.za.
- You upload a PDF bank statement. Our system extracts transaction text in your browser — the file is never transmitted to our servers. It never leaves your device.
- The extracted transaction text is sent to our server and then to Anthropic's Claude AI API for analysis and narrative generation.
- We provide one report per payment of R29.00. Payment must be completed before the full report is accessible.
- Reports are generated automatically by AI. No human reads your data or reviews your report before delivery.
- The accuracy of the report depends on the quality of text that can be extracted from your PDF. Password-protected, scanned, or corrupted PDFs may produce incomplete results. We warn you about this before you upload.
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time with reasonable notice.
- You must be the account holder or have explicit permission from the account holder to upload and analyse a bank statement.
- You must not use StatementIQ for any unlawful purpose, including using another person's banking data without their consent.
- You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access to the service.
- You confirm you are 18 years of age or older.
- Payment of R29.00 per report is processed by PayFast. We do not store your card details — ever.
- All prices are in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable.
- Your payment entitles you to one report for one statement uploaded in that session.
We are not liable for any financial decision made in reliance on information in a StatementIQ report.
The StatementIQ platform, design, branding, and the technology used to generate reports are owned by MoneyMap. You may share your own report for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not resell, repackage, or commercialise StatementIQ reports or the platform.
- StatementIQ is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
- Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the report that gave rise to the claim (R29.00).
- We are not responsible for decisions you make based on report content.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

1.1 Your bank statement PDF
1.2 Transaction text
The extracted text of your transactions (merchant names, amounts, dates) is sent to our server over encrypted HTTPS for analysis. This text is then sent to Anthropic's Claude AI API for categorisation and narrative generation. This text is processed in memory only and is not stored permanently. It is automatically deleted when your session expires (within 6 hours).
1.3 Your email address (optional)
If you provide your email address, we use it solely to send you your report. We do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party except as required to deliver the email (via Resend — see third parties below).
1.4 Payment information
Payment is processed entirely by PayFast. We receive only a payment confirmation and reference number. We never see, store, or process your card details at any point.
1.5 Technical logs
We maintain basic server logs (request timestamps, error messages) for debugging and uptime monitoring. These logs do not contain your personal financial data.
We process your personal information on the following legal bases under POPIA:
- Performance of a contract — to deliver the report you paid for
- Legitimate interest — server logs for security and debugging
- Consent — your email address, if provided
We use the following third parties to deliver the service. Each operates under their own privacy policy.

- Session tokens and all associated data (including transaction text) are automatically deleted after 6 hours
- We do not maintain a database of your financial information
- If you provided your email address, we retain only the email address (not the report content) for a maximum of 12 months, after which it is deleted

- All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Your PDF never leaves your device — it is processed locally
- Transaction text is held in memory only for the duration of analysis
- No financial data is written to disk or stored in a database
- Session tokens are cryptographically random and expire automatically
StatementIQ does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or analytics that identify you personally. We use sessionStorage (browser session memory) to temporarily hold your report data between the payment redirect and report display. This data is cleared when you close your browser tab.
StatementIQ generates descriptive, informational, and entertainment content about your spending patterns. The observations, categorisations, personality assessments, "spending villain" designations, and AI-generated commentary in your report are not financial advice as defined under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act 37 of 2002.
StatementIQ is not registered as a Financial Services Provider with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). We do not recommend, endorse, or advise on any financial product, investment, loan, insurance policy, or financial strategy.
All narrative content in your report — including your financial personality, verdict, spending villain roast, and insights — is generated by Anthropic's Claude AI. While we prompt Claude to be accurate and reference real amounts, AI-generated content can contain errors, misclassifications, or imprecise observations.
The following text appears in the footer of every StatementIQ email report and on the shareable report card:
StatementIQ uses humour, colloquial language, and comedic framing to present financial information. This is intentional. Phrases like "spending villain," "financial roast," and personality archetypes are entertainment conventions, not professional assessments of your financial health or character.
If the tone of a report feels inappropriate or offensive, please contact us at help@moneymap.co.za and we will address it.
StatementIQ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way connected to ABSA, FNB (First National Bank), Standard Bank, Nedbank, Capitec, Investec, Discovery Bank, African Bank, TymeBank, or any other financial institution. Bank names are referenced only to identify the source of your uploaded statement.
We charge R29.00 for one report. If the product doesn't work, you don't pay. If it works and your spending data is confronting — that's the product working exactly as intended.
- Our system fails to produce any report at all due to a technical error on our side
- The report is completely blank or obviously broken (not just a merchant misclassified)
- You were charged twice for the same report
- Payment was processed but we cannot confirm receipt (contact us with your PayFast reference)
- Your PDF was password-protected or scanned (we warn you about this upfront)
- You disagree with how AI categorised a merchant
- You don't like your financial personality name
- The spending data is accurate but uncomfortable
- You uploaded the wrong file
- You changed your mind after the report was delivered

We respond within 2 business days. Approved refunds are processed within 7 business days via PayFast back to your original payment method.
This policy is designed to comply with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under South African consumer protection law. If you believe your consumer rights have been violated, you may contact the National Consumer Commission at thencc.gov.za.
